Hollywood Foto-Rhetoric

A friend gave me this book recently. It's a look behind the gloss of Hollywood and shows the film industry in decline. The photographs by Barry Feinstein with accompanying poems by Bob Dylan make it a poignant look back at the rusty layers of tinseltown.

Brilliant photos! So sad to see Hollywood looking less than glitzy, but there's a certain nostalgia even in the grit and shabbiness of its decline--much of which can still be seen today!

@Kendra Exactly! Couldn't have said it better myself. They're so fascinating. I love this cross-over period when the system was slowing down/changing. I'll have to scan some more photos in. There's a photo of an empty "talent" parking lot which just says so much about that period. I remember being driven past Grauman's and being shocked that it wasn't this shiny, idealistic idea of the golden age of Hollywood I had in my head. Hollywood is still beautiful though. No place like it. x
